Off to a Good Start

Some businesses are lucky enough to experience growth right out of the gate.  The trick is to smartly manage that growth so they aren’t constantly trying to play catch-up.  You don’t want growth to stall, but you also don’t want to grow so fast that you can’t keep up.

Based on your Business Assessment Scores, it would appear that you are in this phase of development. Because you’ve been growing nicely, you may want to plan ahead so you can keep pace.  You don’t to be burning the candle at both ends. While not a bad problem to have, it’s not usually sustainable.

We want to introduce you to Emma, who had an experience similar to the one you may now or soon find yourself.

Emma's Story

“I started my business because I love making people look their best.  The business is going great, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s all so new and exciting that I don’t care that I’m spend 50-60 hours a week working on growing the business.”

Emma has a successful salon business. Her business is growing well, but she’s fairly new. She’s building up clients and getting traction. She’s well on her way to becoming a successful business. She’s so focused on the business right now that she doesn’t have much time to focus on much else.

This is a common problem we see. It easy to get caught up in running the business that you don’t take a step back to plan for your future.  If you don’t, it’s easy to get caught off guard by everything that needs to be done to run a business well

We Referred Emma to a NYC Small Business Center

Why would we turn away business? We were simply too expensive for Emma. We want small businesses to succeed. That’s why we started this company.  We’re not in this to sell services a business someone cannot afford. These other sources were better suited to cater to Emma and could offer her some assistance for free.  Emma will likely outgrow these groups soon.  We wanted her to know that she could trust us to propose solutions that we right for her business, rather than just right for us.  So, when she does outgrow them, she will know where to find help she could trust.

SCORE & SBA have local chapters nationally.  For businesses in NYC, SCORE is easiest for businesses in Manhattan, LaGuardia for Queens, Business Center for Brooklyn, and the Bronx SBDC.
